How you can help

Halcyon is a non-profit music ensemble which presents bold and unique contemporary musical experiences, often with very limited resources. The ensemble relies heavily on the generous support of our existing donors. Please consider making a contribution to Halcyon - even a moderate sum can make a significant difference.

Halcyon is pleased to be working with the Australia Business Arts Foundation (AbaF) to enable our supporters to make tax deductible donations. The Australia Cultural Fund was established to encourage people to donate to the arts and to enable artists to benefit from this generosity.  In the past six years more than $5 million has been donated to AbaF and granted in full to more than 300 artists and cultural organisations like Halcyon.

If you would like to make a donation, you can donate online here or download the pdf form and post it directly to AbaF.  AbaF will provide you with a receipt and take your preference into consideration when allocating grants.  Please do not make donations payable to Halcyon.

For more information about AbaF you can also go to their website www.abaf.org.au/donate or if you have any questions you can contact us.

Halcyon is currently seeking donations in the following areas:

Concerts:
Halcyon concerts are regularly supported by private donation.  This has enabled a growth in our programs, promotions and national touring and a continued standard of excellence. Donations towards performances enable the continued high calibre presentation of our concert series.

Recordings:
Apart from our studio CD, Cool Black, all Halcyon recordings have been made during live performances.  Halcyon has now begun producing studio recordings of some of our commissioned works.  The aim is to complete at least one work alongside every concert program and to begin to record our back catalogue.  Several recently completed projects are From the Hungry Waiting Country by Elliott Gyger, Katy Abbott's No Ordinary Traveller and Ruth Lee Martin's Wimmera Song Cycle.  In process are Willow Songs by Andrew Ford and Petit Testament by Elliott Gyger.  We are going into the studio to record Dan Walker's King Ludwig's Swans in June.

Commissions:
Halcyon seeks funds to continue to commission new works from Australian composers.  Past successful commissions have included Rosalind Page's Soneto del amor oscuro, Dan Walker's King Ludwig's Swans and Nigel Butterley's Mysteria Orphei.
