Kingfisher - 15 years of Halcyon

23 October 2013

The Sculpture Terrace, Museum of Contemporary Art, 140 George Street, Sydney

You’re warmly invited to join us as we celebrate 15 years of Halcyon at the Museum of Contemporary Art with an exclusive cocktail event overlooking spectacular Sydney Harbour!

On Wednesday 23 October Halcyon will host a unique evening, featuring a performance of brand new songs, on the museum’s fabulous new Sculpture Terrace. Compered by harpist and friend of the ensemble Genevieve Lang Huppert, this very special event is an opportunity to commemorate 15 years of wonderful music making by Australia’s leading ensemble for contemporary vocal chamber music.

Funds raised from the occasion will support Kingfisher – Songs for Halcyon, a major commissioning project comprising 23 new songs by 23 composers, with performances in March 2014 and production of a commercial CD. This incredible collection of songs represents the cream of vocal composition in Australia today.

On October 23, as well as beautiful food and beverages and a stunning view, you’ll be treated to a selection of the newly crafted songs, performed by Halcyon in the presence of the composers.  The entire song collection will be performed over two concerts in March 2014.
